Short Description of Your Novel
in Gumbo Justice, Ryan Murphy is a New Orleans prosecutor climbing the ropes at the D.A.'s Office. She has no qualms about skating the line a little to keep up with the Boy's Club, especially when a big promotion is on the line. It doesn't hurt that her daddy is a police captain, her 4 brothers are NOPD officers, and she has her sights set on a detective--or two. When the defendants on cases she prosecuted and lost start showing up dead in the projects, she dismisses it as Karma. By the time she realizes she has a connection to the killer, it may be too late. Gumbo Justice is the first novel in the Crescent City Mystery Series.
Please give a short Author's Bio (please limit to 250 words)
Holli Castillo is a former New Orleans prosecutor and current appellate public defender for the State of Louisiana. Her first novel, Gumbo Justice, published by Oak Tree Press, was delayed when she was in a near-fatal collision with a drunk driver in 2008. After seven months of surgeries, she was back on her feet, with a titanium rod in her left femur, plates in her right tibia and fibula, and screws in her left elbow. Her current motto is she's still kicking, just not as high. Jambalaya Justice, the follow up to Gumbo Justice, was released in July, 2011. The third in the series, Chocolate City Justice, is due winter, 2012. She lives in the New Orleans metropolitan area with her husband, two children, dog, two guinea pigs, and deaf cat, who is featured in Jambalaya Justice.
